Jim Lamb

Jim Lamb (Born 1946) is active/lives in Washington, Montana.  Jim Lamb is known for Wildlife-birds and plein-air landscape painting, illustration.

After 20 years as a successful illustrator, Jim Lamb became a plein air painter which he  said was like "starting all over again" (Southwest Art).  He was born in Montana, and settled in Issaquah, Washington.

Lamb likes to paint in oil because he regards it as the "most forgiving of mediums because it can be smeared out, scraped off, or even wiped away completely at any time".  He also uses photographs and recently a video camera.

Biography from Red Piano Art Gallery

Born in Hamilton, Montana, and now living in Sammamish, Washington, Jim Lamb studied at the Art Center College of Design of Los Angeles and has 15 years experience as a professional freelance illustrator.  His work has been commissioned by the Smithsonian Institution, the National Football League, and the U.S. Postal Service, as well as numerous movie studios and national corporations.

Lamb was chosen Artist of the Year in 1991 for the nationally recognized Southeastern Wildlife Exposition in Charleston, SC.  His work was also selected for the national Birds in Art show, which traveled to Japan and can be seen in North Light's book, The Best of Wildlife

Lamb's work is part of numerous permanent collections, including the Pentagon, the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Museum and the Montana Historical Society.

Jim Lamb is a member of the Northwest Rendezvous Group of artists, and his work was featured in the February 2001 issue of Southwest Art magazine.  He is a two-time winner of La Quinta Arts Foundation's invitational plein air painting competitions.
